Creative Video Journalism Workshop
Develop your creative story telling skills and learn how to produce engaging video news in an inspiring, immersive and practical three-day workshop!
The rise in popularity of social media and online video means more people are watching video news now than ever before. This has led to an increasing demand for talented video journalists who can produce high quality, creative content that meets international broadcast standards.
Myanmar Deitta are providing a 3-day workshop to aid professionals and enthusiasts on improving their knowledge of conceptualising and shooting TV news features and short documentary stories. Through both theory and practical instruction participants will be trained in everything needed to help shape and hone your skills to excel in the field of video journalism. The course will include journalistic practice, pitching, camera and sound operation, video editing and more.
The course will be taught in English and at least a basic knowledge of English will be required
Friday June 2nd - Sunday June 4th | Programme schedule will be made available to interested participants.
- A desire to work in news or creative media fields.
- Experience using camera equipment and editing.
- Interest in developing skills to a professional level.
- Access to camera and editing system is preferable**. Limited equipment is available if requested in advance.

James Holman is a talented and enthusiastic filmmaker who has produced everything from commercials and branded content to documentaries and web-series. Over the past 10 years, James has developed a wide range of skills and experience working as a cinematographer and director. The work James has produced has featured on BBC World and CNN World News, The Washington Post, USA Today and hundreds of other websites. James has an intimate understanding of video production and its potentially global reach.
Ali Fowle is an award winning video journalist and documentary producer. She has a Masters in Television and Current Affairs from City University, London and is passionate about video journalism. She specialises in Burmese and South-East Asian affairs, having lived and worked in the region since graduating in 2009. Ali has produced TV news and video features for major news organisations such as BBC News, Associated Press, CNN World and documentaries for channels including, Al-Jazeera English, Channel News Asia and SBS.
