Print Sale and Website Launch!

For four weeks in November and December Myanmar Deitta showcased the work of six amazing photographers working to shine a spotlight on the harsh realities of Myanmar’s extractive industries. Stories including the illicit jade trade from northern Myanmar’s Kachin State, the aftermath of government crackdowns on protests against the controversial Letpadaung copper mine in Sagaing Region, and the tapping of onshore oil reserves along the banks of the Irrawaddy River.

The UNEARTH project began as a collaboration between six documentary photographers and the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) in order to provide a visual record of Myanmar’s resource sector. In January Myanmar Deitta will launch the second part of this ongoing initiative – a new online platform for an expanding collection of stories from independent photographers, filmmakers and writers shedding light on extractive industries in Myanmar.

Please join us on the weekend of 13th/14th February 2016 to celebrate the launch of the UNEARTH website. The weekend will be the last opportunity to see this exhibition, and all framed photographs will be available to purchase.
